It's fairly quite on the Border

There isn't much going on in the way of the "border war" lately. About the only rumblings are about the 3 arena's (downtown KC, Overland Park, and Olathe).

Yael (the self-appointed demi-god of the KC metro area/KCStar editorial writer) of course believes that OP and Olathe need to stop trying to build their arena's with taxpayer money or with tax subsidies. It's pretty funny though, he's all for Kansas City using increased taxes to build its arena. He's a Jackson County resident, so I wouldn't expect anything less from him.

There has been movement on the Truman Sports Complex fiasco. Both the Royals and the Chiefs have agreed to give the Jackson County Sports Authority a one year extension before claiming the county has defaulted on the stadium improvements. The agreement seems to have been spurred by the fact that some KC businessmen want to build a new downtown baseball park for the Royals. The Chiefs are already screaming that because of the way the leases are worded, if the Royals get a new ballpark, then the Chiefs are entitled to a new one also.
WAH, WAH, WAH. I say default on the leases... let the losers move on to other cities. KC might be hard pressed to bring in another Major League Baseball team, but NFL teams would line up for a chance at the local KC fan base! I can see it now...
(insert National Anthem music here...) "...and the home... of the.... Saints!"
