Hey Republicans

Aren't you Republicans supposed to be the party that wants less government interference in the life of average "Joe American"? The party that stresses state first, federal second?

Or did GW Bush change all that for you folks?

Every day in the USA, people are taken off of life support systems. Some because they had living wills, some because the family agrees it is the right thing to do, and some simply because the family can not pay for the care. But it happens every day.

So why is the US Congress getting involved in the Terri Schiavo case?

"We should investigate every avenue before we take the life of a living human being," said House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, a Texas Republican. "This is giving the Schindlers the opportunity to get into federal court and have a federal judge look at this, based on the merits of the case."
President Bush planned to leave his ranch in Crawford, Texas, for Washington late Sunday morning so he can be ready to sign any legislation passed, spokesman Scott McClellan said.
Why this hypocritical stance over this womans life? They've sent thousands of healthy American men and women to die in Iraq and Afghanistan... but they want to save the life of this woman who by ALL medical definitions is in a persistant vegatative state. WTF are they smoking?

My brothers, sisters, and I made the same decision for my mother a few years ago. She was on life support, and although nothing was ever written down we knew my mother didn't want to be hooked up to machines if there wasn't a chance of her getting off of the machines to live her own life. At the time, one of my brothers was "finding Christ", sort of, and he held up the decision for a little while. But that was HIS right... not the right of the US Congress.

I urge everyone to take note of which members of Congress vote to approve this. They MUST be voted out of office, because this is a flagrant violation of their power.
